DDL FC signs 7 US players

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC have added 7 US players to its roster. Combined with the previous eight Dutch players the roster has a total of 15 players. The final 7 players will have to come from the 2nd try-out March 12 in Bellbrook. 

 

 

Two of the seven signings are University of Dayton standouts, Jeff Popella and Randy Dennis. Jeff is originally from Dayton, attending Carroll High School before attending UD. He was second in goals last season, scoring 7 in only 11 games. Randy is from Texas and started all 20 games in 2009. Both will be playing the Premier Development League for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC this season. 

 

Other signings include Dayton native Steven McCarthy.  Steven attended Alter High School before heading to Capital University, where he scored 24 goals in 23 games and having 7 assists for a total of 55 points. He also had training time with the Columbus Crew.

 

Besides Jeff, Randy and Steven 4 other players signed a contract for one year, including Eddie Hertsenberg (Cincinnati State and Ohio Dominican and playing indoor for Cincinnati Express), Eric Kissinger (Miami Valley), Kyle Segebart (played with the Cincinnati Kings last year) and Kyle VondenBenken, who started in all 19 games for Butler University and was named to the All-Horizon League First Team in 2009.
